Welcome to the Riga International Rotary Club
Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
The Riga International Rotary Club was chartered on 22 August 1998. We belong to the Rotary District 2410 which covers the whole Latvia and part of Sweden.
The first Rotary Club of Riga was founded 1933, it was shut down during the Soviet occupation.
During “Glasnost” in the late 1980s and the following liberation of Latvia the old Riga Rotary club was restarted with help from the Swedish Rotary organization.
A number of foreign experts came to Riga to help modernize the society.
Many of them wanted to do more for Latvia and joined the Rotary club.
Because of the increasing number of foreigners who could not speak Latvian there was a decision to start an English spoken club:
The Riga International Rotary Club.
The Club has the status of an approved charity organization by VID, so if you make a donation
to us it will be considered as eligible allowance for corporate income tax purposes,
depending upon the approach you use.

One of the main charity events that we do every year is the Santa's Fun Run.
It is arranged in Riga a few weeks before Christmas.
We usually manage to raise a good sum of money for charity by this event.

Since a few years we have done the so called "Food Drive". We donate money and buy food to needy families in Latvia. The Salvation Army is helping us to distribute the food packages. This happens around Christmas.
We are collaborating with the Bad Homburg Kurpark Rotary Club in Germany from where we get yearly donations of used clothes.

Rotaract in Riga
Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 and older to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, to develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through service.
